Cathy Jo Cress
was born and raised in Ventnor, New Jersey, the yellow
Monopoly property down the island from Atlantic City. She
majored in English at Rowan College in South Jersey and was
editor of the college newspaper, The
Whit. Since
receiving her MSW in aging from UC Berkeley, she has taught
aging at Berkeley, San Francisco State University, Cabrillo
College and the University of Florida
Cress owned a geriatric care management agency, Cresscare,
Case Management for Elders, for 25 years and has produced
PR and marketing materials for businesses that deal with
aging for two decades. She edited the Journal of
Geriatric Care Management for the
National Association of Geriatric Care Management from 1992
to 1997.
Cathy lives in Santa Cruz, California, with her husband,
Pete Peterson. She is the mother of Kali Cress Peterson and
Jill Lynne Gallo, Scott Peterson and Staci Peterson . She
and Pete have eight grandchildren—
